DidiBahini is a Nepal-based gender equality and social justice organization working for more than three decades as an educator, facilitator, advocate, and catalyst for change. It focuses on empowering women, youth, and other marginalized groups, including sexual minorities and people with disabilities.

The organization works to address key issues such as education, livelihood, health, water, shelter, social security, legal rights, political participation, and prevention of gender-based violence. It promotes gender equality, women’s empowerment, and social inclusion through research, advocacy, capacity building, and community-based programs. DB has implemented numerous national and international projects in partnership with UN organization, government bodies, NGOs, and academic institutions. A major focus area is women’s political participation and leadership, including long-term initiatives like Women in Politics, gender mainstreaming in governance, and capacity building of elected women representatives.

It is also active in areas such as Safe City initiatives, Women’s Safety Audits, gender and social inclusion (GESI) research, and peacebuilding networks. DB hosts and collaborates with several national and regional networks related to women’s rights, education, climate, and peace. Through training and community programs, DB has built the capacity of thousands of women, men, and youth, producing many trainers and leaders who now contribute to governance, civil society, and public institutions.

DidiBahini currently works with gender and marginalized communities, existing leaders to support social transformation by addressing immediate needs in education, psychosocial well-being, and community development. It provides a platform for lifelong learning, basic literacy for elderly women, and support in health and livelihoods for vulnerable groups, engaging all sections of society including youth, children, adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and senior citizens. DidiBahini also integrates environmental and climate action into its programs. As a member of the Climate and Development (C&D) network and through engagement in feminist relief and recovery task forces, it contributes to gender-responsive disaster management, policy advocacy, and recovery planning at national level.
