Hira Chaudhary
Hira Chaudhary, 40, is a resident of of Surunga Municipality-4. She has completed her education up to the +2 level. There are five members in her family, including her husband, one son, one daughter, her brother-in-law, and herself. Being a woman engaged in social transformation,she has been actively serving at the ward level and is also carrying out responsibilities as an executive committee member.
During the initial phase of her political journey, Hira Chaudhary faced various problems and challenges. She experienced society’s reluctance to accept women in leadership roles, limited participation of women in decision-making processes, unequal opportunities, and behaviors that undermined women’s self-confidence. Managing time between household responsibilities, childcare, social duties, and political activities was also very challenging for her. She often felt unable to openly express her opinions, and her voice was not adequately heard during decision-making processes. The tendency to give less priority to women’s participation also discouraged her at times. However, continuous support and encouragement from her family motivated her to continue her work without giving up. Witnessing the struggles of women, gender-based discrimination, and the practice of giving less importance to women’s roles further inspired her to become more active in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment.
After receiving Feminist Leadership Training from Didibahini, there was a significant positive change in her working style. The leadership development training, women’s rights education, and skill-based trainings provided by the organization helped her feel more capable and confident in working within the community. She became more active in organizing local women, listening to their problems, and initiating efforts to find solutions. She also engaged in activities such as providing skill-based training to promote women’s self-reliance, conducting awareness programs, and sharing information related to women’s rights.
After becoming a ward executive member, she had further strengthened her work in community development, women’s rights, education, health, and social justice, making her efforts more effective and impactful. Hira Chaudhary faced many challenges while working in both political and social sectors. However, the support of her family, her own dedication and hard work, and the training and guidance provided by Didibahini helped her move forward in her journey. She has set a future goal to remain actively engaged in promoting women’s participation and community development in the coming days.
She learned about the training through Krishna Hari Upadhyaya and Jyoti Chaudhary. She expressed gratitude to Didibahini, stating that receiving similar training opportunities in the future would be even more beneficial for continued learning and empowerment.
