  Under the project activity, training on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation was organized to the actively working NGOs, CBOs and local level organizations in all six working districts. It was organized with an objective to mainstream the issue of Peace Building and Conflict Transformation in the wider sector. Similarly, another objective of the training program was to provide knowledge and skill of Peace Building and Conflict Transformation to the organizations so that they could bring the multiplier effect in peace building process. Thirty actively working NGOs, CBOs and line organizations of each district were targeted for the training program. Therefore, 180 organizations of 6 districts got training in total.  
   
  Didi Bahini organized training on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation in Kathmandu from the date 26th Dec 2007 to 28th Dec 2007. The program was organized in the training-hall of Didi Bahini central office in Kathmandu. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, Lead Trainer, DidiBahini and Ms. Ishwori Chand, Counselor, Didi Bahini was in the training team. Twenty participants from different NGOs and CBOs participated in the program. The 3 days training was divided into 12 sessions. The first day of the training program started with inaugural session. The inaugural program was commenced by Dhana Maya Rai, District Facilitator of Kathmandu district. Ms. Saloni Singh, Executive Chair of DidiBahini chaired the program. Similarly, Ms. Neeta Shrestha, Project Coordinator, PEACE welcomed the participants and gave highlights about the training as well as PEACE project. Finally, briefing shortly about DidiBahini, Ms. Saloni Singh thanked all the participants for participating in the program and wished them all the best to make the program successful. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, took the floor for the training. The contents of training included the followings- Conflict, Conflict Transformation, Violence, Peace and Peace Building, Violent Conflict, Social Inclusion, Leadership, Conflict Management Skill and Human Rights. Ms. Saloni Singh, Executive Chair of DidiBahini distributed certificates to all the participants in the closing ceremony of the program.  
   
  Training on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation was organized in Bhaktapur district from 6th January to 8th January 2008. Altogether 30 participants participated in the training program. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila and Mr. Kamal Khanal were in the training team. During the inauguration of the training program, Ms. Neeta Shrestha, Project Coordinator, PEACE gave the welcomed and briefly explained the participants about the program. The formal inauguration of the training program was done by Mr. Dilli Prasad Sibakoti, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur district by lighting a pair of candle. Speaking in the program he said, conflict is an ongoing process, thus we should be able to change the effect of conflict in positive way. He said there will be less conflict if every sections of the country perform their role from their respective sectors. He further encouraged all the participating organizations to work in the sector of Peace and Development. He also assured to provide full support from his level if required. Ms. Sumina Vaidya, Board Member, DidiBahini and Mr Bivek Joshi, Community Action Center (CAC) Nepal participated in the inauguration program. After the inauguration program floor was handed over to the trainers. The trainers successfully conducted the training program for three days. The training sessions included the Conflict, Conflict Transformation, Gender, Leadership, Human Rights etc. The participation level of the trainees was very high. The games as well as ice-breaking played in regular interval in the training helped to keep up the energy level of the participants. The training program was concluded by distributing the certificates. Ms. Saloni Singh, Executive Chair of DidiBahini thanked all the participants for their active participation in the program. Participants Mr. Pravin Joshi, UNESCO Society and Ms. Krishneswori Hada Nepal RedCross Society, Bhaktapur also gave a token of thanks in the program. They highly appreciated the training program and thanked the trainers for conducting the training program in lively and interesting manner.
 
   
  Three days training in Peace Building and Conflict Transformation was organized in Lalitpur district on 2nd Jan to 4th Jan 2008 to the actively working line NGOs and CBOs of the Lalitpur district. Altogather 30 organizations participated in the program. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila and Ms. Situ Shrestha, Staff of Didi Bahini was in the training team of the program.Mr. Ananda Raj Pokharel, Chief District Officer of Lalitpur district was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony of the program. Ms. Saloni Singh, Executive Chair of DidiBahini chaired the program and Mr. Sudha Lal Mulmi, Executive Chair of "Skill and Education for the Underpreviledged" were the guests in the inaugural session. Ms. Srijana Biswakarma, district facilitator of Lalitpur district facilitated the program. The inauguration program started with the welcome speech by the project coordinator highlighting upon the objectives of the project and the about the program. Mr. Pokharel inaugurated the program by lighting a pair of "Panas" (traditional lamp). Speaking in the program he stressed that conflict occurs in every sector but to bring the positive changes from the conflict important. Citing the examples of "Madhesi Movement" he said that it is taking vigorous form because the demands of People of Terai have not been properly addressed. He appreciated the effort made by DidiBahini in the sector of Peace and assured to provide the needed support from his level. The training program proceeded with the sessions from the trainer in Conflict. The participants highly enjoyed the training. The training incorporated the issues of conflict, conflict transformation, Peace, Gender, Leadership and Human Rights. The closing ceremony of the training program was done by distributing certificates to the participants. Giving brief introduction about DidiBahini Ms. Saloni Singh, Executive Chair of DidiBahini thanked all the participants for showing their enthusiasm in the training.
 
   
  Didi Bahini organized the training in Parsa from the date 21st Jan to 23rd Jan 2008. The program was in the building of Nepal Red Cross Society Parsa. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, Lead Trainer, DidiBahini was the lead trainer of the program. Thirty five participants from different NGOs and CBOs participated in the program. Ms. Subhadra Shrestha, District Facilitator for Parsa initiated the program with the welcome speech, which was followed by program and Project highlights that was shared by Ms. Neeta Shrestha, Project Coordinator, PEACE. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, took the floor for the training. The contents of training included the followings- Conflict, Conflict Transformation, Violence, Peace and Peace Building, Violent Conflict, Social Inclusion, Leadership, Conflict Management Skill and Human Rights. The training program was successful to accomplish its goal. It has been helpful in providing awareness on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation to the different organizations. The active participation and the positive attitude shown by the participants helped the trainer to conduct the training in lively way. The teaching and learning environment of the training was very good. The enthusiasm and willingness showed by the participants to work on this issue is well appreciated. This will was expected to be supportive in bringing the multiplier effect to bring positive changes in the issue of Peace Building and conflict Transformation. Ms. Poonam Shah, Chair of Uthan Samaj, Local NGO of Parsa distributed certificates to all the participants in the closing ceremony of the program. Minu Piya, DidiBahini and Sinthya Shahi of Uthan Samaj also cheered the participants in the certificated distribution program.  
   
  The training on conflict transformation was held on 10th Jan to 12th Jan 2008 at Shivalaya Bhajan Committee, Kharinitar, Nuwakot. The program was inaugurated by Ms. Tulasa Lata Amatya Executive Director CAC-Nepal. She welcomed all the participants. After the inauguration program, the introduction program started with the expectation collection from the participants. Most of the expectations were to know about Peace, Violence, Conflict Transformation, and HIV and AIDS issues. In the training, there were representatives of five parties they were the CPN (Maoist), Janamorcha, Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Nepal Majdur Kishan Party. Total 33 participants participated in this training. The training was highly successful. All the participants actively participated and asked more training for others those who were unable to join this training because of the limitations. Ms Tulasa Lata Amatya gave away certificates to all the participants. In her concluding remarks she said that 33 participants from Nuwakot district should bring multipliers on “Peace Enabling awareness and Conflict Transformation Enterprise” in the community and different VDC and link up with other program. During the training period the participants requested CAC-Nepal to conduct same training program for other participants who were not able to attend the training program. She assured that very soon CAC-Nepal will conduct such training program in near future. Even though the project is going to phase-out in February, CAC-Nepal will manage to conduct this training program on its own resources.  
   
  CAC-Nepal in joint venture with Didi Bahini organized training on “Peace Building and Conflict Transformation” from 19th to Jan 21th Jan 2008 at Rangoli Guest House, Gaur, Rautahat. Ms. Omita Joshi, Coordinator of CAC-Nepal welcomed all the participants. Ms. Neeta Shrestha, Project Coordinator, PEACE gave brief introduction about the project. Mr. Bivek Joshi, Program Officer, CAC-Nepal and Ms. Omita Joshi were in the training team. Altogether 40 members participated in the training program. The training started with the introduction of the participants. After that the expectation of the training was collected. Most of the expectation was related to Peace, Violence, Conflict Transformation, Child Marriage and Dowry system, Trafficking, HIV and AIDS. During the training period the female participants were quite passive. However, they were good listeners and had an enthusiasm to learn. All the participants enjoyed the training very much. The participants were satisfied with the training contents. They commented that the time was short to learn. They suggested to have such trainin programs lengthened as appropriate. The participants were eager to conduct such training programs in communities and wherever applicable. The closing ceremony was chaired by Mr. Ram Narayan Jha, Section Officer of Cottage and Small industry. He distributed training certificates to the participants as well. Speaking in the closing program Mr. Bivek Joshi emphasized on the importance of the multiplier effect and assured the commitment from the participants to share their learning from the training with their colleagues in respective NGOs and CBOs. Ms. Omita Joshi emphasized that the trainings are useless unless they are implemented into actions.
 
   
  Peace Building workshop in Higher Secondary School was another major activity of the project. It is said that School and school students are the zone of Peace. But the saying has just proven opposite in the reality. Schools have been chosen as the most prominent zone for any riot, mishaps and demonstration. Hence, realizing the fact, this program was organized with an objective to enhance Peace education and create an environment of Peace in school. Six higher secondary schools of four districts in which 2-2 schools of Bhaktapur and Parsa and 1-1 school of Rautahat and Nuwakot that are closed to Peace Councils were chosen for this activity. In order to meet the objective of the program, a detailed questionnaire was developed with the technical input of AASAMAN Nepal (organization working for mainstreaming Peace Education). With the help of this questionnaire a small survey was conducted in every selected school. The questionnaire provided the detail information about the condition, and the teaching learning environment of the school. Thus, on the basis of that questionnaire, one day workshop in the higher secondary schools was conducted. The details of the school workshops are as follows,  
   
  Peace Building workshop in BalPremi Higher Secondary School of Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur was organized on 5th Feb 2008. Head Teacher, representatives from the School Management Committee (SMC), representatives of Parent Teacher Association (PTA), school students were the participants of the program. Altogether 41 members participated in the program. Mr. Dhurba Shrestha of AASAMAN Nepal was the resource person for the program. Ms. Neeta Shrestha , Project Coordinator, PEACE presented the detail information about the PEACE project. She oriented the participants about the objectives of the project and the program. She explained the participants about how the school program will help to meet the overall objective of the project. Mr. Dhurba Shrestha, started the program with introduction of the participants. He started the program with a brainstorming session about Peace and Conflict. All the participants presented their opinion on it. Besides that, he gave his opinion about Peace and conflict. He did brainstorming among the participants about the "Conflict". The discussion was also done upon the Conflict that occurs inside and outside the school and classroom. He further discussed about the Conflict that it arouses inside and outside the classroom. To make the program more effective, the resource person distributed the Code of Conduct of teacher and students to the participants. The Code of Conduct contained the role and responsibilities of SMC, role and responsibilities of Head Teacher. The Code of Conduct helped to refresh the role and responsibilities of the participants. As many members in the school are unaware about the formation of SMC and PTA. Thus, the resource person presented about formation process of SMC and PTA. After the presentation session, an evaluation session was conducted. In this session an evaluation form was distributed to the participants in order to assess the suitability of the program. The evaluation showed that the participants were satisfied from the program. At the end of the program Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, Consultant of PEACE project gave vote of thanks to the participants. He thanked the participants for joining the PEACE team in the peace process and requested the participants to share their knowledge and skill with others as well.  
   
  On 6th Feb 2008, Peace building workshop was organized in the Arniko Higher Secondary School of Dadhikot, Bhaktapur. Mr. Dhurba Shrestha of AASAMAN Nepal was the resource person for the program. School examiner, Resource Person from District Education Office, Head Teacher, representatives from the School Management Committee (SMC), representatives of Parent Teacher Association (PTA), school students including the other Head Teachers of 10 different schools of Bhaktapur participated in the program. There were altogether 46 participants in the program.
Ms. Neeta Shrestha, Project Coordinator of PEACE initiated the program with the short introduction of the project. She explained the participants about the objectives to conduct this program. After introducing about the project and the program the floor was handed over to Mr Dhurba Shrestha, resource person of the program. Mr. Dhurba Shrestha, commenced the program with introduction of the participants. Then he preceded the program with a short definition of conflict and its type. He did brainstorming among the participants about the "conflict". From the brainstorming following opinions were given; conflict occurs due to difference in opinion, difference in working style, difference in ideologies and difference in demands. Similarly, he also brainstormed the participants about Peace. Discussion was also made about the conflict that arouses inside and outside the classroom. To make the program more effective, the resource person also distributed the Code of Conduct of teacher and students. The Code of Conduct contained the role and responsibilities of SMC, role and responsibilities of Head Teacher. The Code of Conduct helped to refresh the role and responsibilities of the participants once more. He further discussed upon the rules and regulations that should be followed during the formation of SMC and PTA. After the sessions by Mr. Dhurba Shrestha, an evaluation session was conducted. In this session an evaluation form was distributed to the participants in order to assess the suitability of the program. According to the evaluation the program was satisfactory. It was well appreciated by the participants. All the participants including the students showed high interest and curiosity in the program. Finally the program ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila, Consultant of PEACE project. He also requested the participants to further disseminate the knowledge and skill that has been gained from this program.
 
   
  On 10th Jan 2008 Community Action Center (CAC) Nepal organized workshop on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation at Shree Shanker Guddar H. S. School, Samanpur, Rautahat. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Hari Shanker Lal Karna, Vice Head Teacher Shree Shanker Guddar H. S. School. Mr. Chandreshwor Prashad Jaishwal, chairperson of School Management Committee (SMC) was the Chief Guest of the program. The program was commenced with the welcome speech of Mr. Bivek Joshi, Program Officer, CAC-Nepal. He highlighted the main objectives of the project and the program. He also added that the PEACE Project is jointly conducted by Didi Bahini and CAC-Nepal in 6 districts and this project is supported by AED (Academy for Educational Development). Speaking about the program he said that, the objective of the workshop is to create environment of peace in schools and to provide knowledge and awareness on Peace Building and Conflict Transformation. Mr. Dipendra Patel, Youth Volunteer, PEACE Project and the former student of Shree Shanker Guddar H. S. School presented the present scenario of school with the help of the survey report. After the presentations, Mr. Chandreshwor Prashad Jaishwal, Chief Guest of the program said that school is zone of peace and it is our duty to protect the school from any kind of conflict. He also said that we have to ensure quality education and promote child right in the school. Ms. Omita Joshi, representative of CAC-Nepal, gave vote of thanks to all the participants for the continuous support and understanding from the school. She said that it is an initiative which CAC-Nepal and Didi Bahini started but the expectation is the continuous monitoring by the school management committee. The closing of the program was done by Mr Hari Shanker Lal Karna, Chair Person of the program. He gave brief information about the situation of school and its educational environment. He said that school environment has continuously been affected by the continuous "Bandhs" and strikes. Furthermore he also requested the community members to be more supportive for improving the teaching learning environment of the school. He shared the future plans and program of the school in the program. He also said that frequent monitoring and evaluation should be done by parents and help the school to up lift the situation of the school which is very much important.  
   
  On 10th Jan 2008, Peace building workshop was organized in Shree Nepal Rastriya Vidhya Pith H. S. School. Mr. Indra Narayan Bhaila was the resource person for the program. Head Teacher, representatives from the School Management Committee (SMC), representatives of Parent Teacher Association (PTA), school students participated in the program. There were altogether 41 participants in the program. Ms. Subhadra Shrestha commenced the program with the short introduction the project. She explained the participants about the objectives to conduct this program. After introducing about the project and the program the floor was handed over to Khar Bhusan Shah, resource person of the program. The program was started with introduction of the participants. The focus of the program was on conflict that occurs inside and outside the school. The Code of Conduct of teacher and students were distributed to the participants in the program. The Code of Conduct contained the role and responsibilities of SMC, role and responsibilities of Head Teacher. The resource person said every unit of the school should perform their respective roles properly to develop the conflict-less environment at schools. After the sessions by Mr. Khar Bhusan Shah, an evaluation session was conducted. From the evaluation it was revealed that the program was satisfactory. It was well appreciated by the participants. The participants said that very few programs are brought in the rural areas thus they requested the organizations to organize such other programs which will help to enhance the environment of school. Finally, the program ended with his vote of thanks. He also requested the participants to further disseminate the knowledge and skill that has been gained from this program.  
   
  Peace Building workshop was organized on 11th Jan 2008 at Shree Radha Krishna Chaurayiya Higher Secondary School, Bahuarwa, Parsa. Mr. Satrughan Tiwari, Head teacher of the School was the chief guest for the program. Altogether 46 participants including the students, teachers, members from SMC, representatives of PTA participated in the program. Mr. Khar Bhusan Shah, Consultant, PEACE was the resource person for the program. During the training program, participants were asked to write feedback about the training programs. A brief evaluation revealed that the participants were very glad to participate in such program. The program has definitely broadened their knowledge area in practice. They said that this kind of program should be organized which will help the school to review about its present condition and to make the improvements in the future. Speaking in the program Mr. Satrughan Tiwari, head teacher of the school said that students are building blocks of every society. Until and unless they are aware about Peace building, the reformation of society is not possible. He said it is the pleasure of school to collaborate with DidiBahini to launch such an awareness building program in the school. The program ended with the thanks giving speech by Ms. Subhadra Shrestha.
