Women Forums

Women Forums were established to develop women leadership at the grassroots level, and to improve their access and control over local resources. It is also an avenue to develop transparency in local government.

The forum has provided a platform for active participation of women in arbitration, settlement of disputes, fighting against alcoholism, gender based violence etc. It has also provided a platform to negotiate public resources from government and non-government agencies and increase their capacity to develop formal linkages with local bodies such as VDCs and DDCs in their respective districts.

Planning and budgeting within VDCs and poverty reduction projects of line agencies formed part of the informative package for empowerment. This forum has helped them identify problemswithin their areas and seek solutions through dialogues with concerned agencies. Discussions on issues such as: violence against women, trafficking; women legal rights are expected to result to greater awareness amongst members of WFs.
